I’ve had a daily meditation practice since I sat my first silent, Buddhist meditation retreat. That was 13 years ago.  Ever since then, my practice has been the foundation of my life.  It’s my reliable refuge.  No matter what’s happening in my life, it brings me home to myself and what really matters. Meditation opens me to something deeper than the daily struggles, emotional storms, and confusion.

1. Mindfulness (Intro: 2:03; Practice: 10:36)

“We can cultivate intuition, silence, deep listening, bare attention, and locating where emotions live as sensations in the body — by regularly committing to one particular practice: Mindfulness Meditation.”*

Through this simple, powerful technique, we return to the present moment.  We cultivate concentration, relaxation, and clarity.  Difficult circumstances and emotions no longer pull us away from this unshakable clarity.  Rather than reacting unconsciously, we begin to respond with an open heart and clear mind.

Once we’ve laid our foundation with Mindfulness, I guide you through meditations on the Four Infinite Abodes: Loving-Kindness, Compassion, Joy, and Equanimity.  These qualities are available to us all — and with practice, we return to them naturally, like coming home.

2. Loving-Kindness (Intro: 4:04; Practice: 19:42)

“These simple phrases can make a huge difference in your mood and the quality of your everyday interactions, keeping you from spiraling into negative, stressful thinking.”*


Only when you truly love yourself can you love others.  This powerful practice helped me release self-hatred and discover gratitude, forgiveness, joyful connection, and boundless, unconditional love.  Over time, we share this loving-kindness with friends, enemies, and all beings.

3. Compassion (Intro: 4:56; Practice: 10:27)

“An innately feminine quality, compassion allows you to stay grounded in yourself, in your heart, while feeling not only yourself but also another, very deeply.”*


Invite everything into your vast heart.  Discover how unshakably strong love is.  This practice teaches us to hold space for everything that arises, especially what’s difficult.  We remain lovingly present with suffering, impermanence, and grief.  It’s from this heartfelt clarity that we’ll co-create a more peaceful, more loving world.

4. Joy (Intro: 3:23; Practice: 9:14)

“Each person gets exactly what she needs to grow into her greatest self.  When you see life this way, there’s no longer a need to compare or compete.  Every situation is an opportunity to grow.”*


Feelings of anger, jealousy, and lack arise no matter how “evolved” or “spiritual” we are.  They create a painful wall between us and those we love.  Joy lies on the other side of these emotions — through them.  By honoring our feelings, we begin tapping into a deeper truth where we genuinely wish joy for each and every creature we meet.

5. Equanimity (Intro: 6:26; Practice: 7:04)

Equanimity means feeling deeply without getting swept away by emotion or circumstance.  In each moment, you can choose to feel and reside in your emotions without acting out or repressing them.”*
